Certified North Carolina Mediator

William Barrett is a mediator certified by the North Carolina Dispute Resolution Commission.  Both the State and Federal courts in North Carolina mandate that every case be referred to mediation before it may proceed to trial.

With 27+ years representing employers and individual employees, William Barrett is unusually well-positioned to understand the pressures, needs and reasoning of both plaintiffs and defendants in employment litigation, as well as most other forms of business and personal disputes. He can empathize and identify with both parties.  Mr. Barrett brings his years of experience as a counselor and litigator to the mediation in a sincere and impartial effort to assist the parties in what is often their last and best chance to resolve the matter without the uncertainty and expense an actual trial will bring.

Fair and Impartial Mediation

Mediation works so that the parties can reach a compromise, in a structured environment, and avoid the heavy costs and risks associated with taking the case to trial.  Mediators are impartial; they have no stake in the outcome, and are therefore able to bring creative suggestions for each side to retain their values while also exploring the flexibility needed to generate new solutions.  This helps stalemated parties reach a mutual resolution.
